✨Mixed Fillings Pie Shop – We stopped here to try their key lime pie and it was delicious! (1049 Park Street)

✨Soul Food Bistro – This is a cafeteria-style restaurant located inside a mall. The food was AMAZING!!! (5310 Lenox Ave, Suite 1)

✨Sweet Pete’s Candy – My kids had a ball filling up on gourmet candies and chocolates at this cute candy shop! (400 N Hogan Street, Unit 1)

There were several other restaurants that came highly recommended that we didn’t have time to check out. Here’s a list of other eateries:

•	Jenkins Quality Barbeque: 830 N. Pearl Street

What do you want to be when you grow up? As a k What do you want to be when you grow up?

As a kid, I would answer that question with a job description, but as I’ve gotten older and wiser, I’ve learned that life isn’t just about what you do, but who you are. Despite the few jobs I have, it’s my values that define me. I’ve worked hard to hone these attributes in myself and surround myself with people who also embody the same characteristics.

We recently visited Jacksonville, FL, to check out We recently visited Jacksonville, FL, to check out their Kids Free November deal. With the purchase of one adult ticket, kids get in free at several participating attractions for the entire month of November.

Here’s what we got into during our 3-day Kids Free November weekend:

🌟Explore Jax Core: This phenomenal 3-hour driving tour highlights Jacksonville’s rich Black history. The kids can hop on and off at various sites, making it fun.

🌟Museum of Science and History: This museum had so many cool exhibits. My kids loved The Animation Academy and Health in Motion exhibits.

🌟King Pins Bowling Center: One of the highlights of our trip was the quiet afternoon we spent playing a round of bowling as a family. With the purchase of one adult ticket, kids get two free games.

🌟Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens: The Arboretum was the perfect place for a slow stroll after lunch. I especially loved the easy walking trails and beautiful trees dripping with Spanish Moss.

🌟Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens: We ended our trip with a visit to the Zoo. The kids chose the Africa Loop and loved watching lions and rhinos nap. Their favorite exhibit was the stingray pool, where they lightly touched stingrays as they swam by. The zoo allows visitors to feed the stingrays at certain times during the day.

Overall, we had loads of fun playing and getting to know Jacksonville. And the Kids Free November deal saved us quite a bit of money.

Here are my top three tips for air travel with kid Here are my top three tips for air travel with kids:

1️⃣ Be flexible. If you arrive at the airport well before your departure, ask your kids what they’d like to do while they wait. My son always wants a sweet treat and my daughter likes any airport playground.

2️⃣ Try to make simple tasks fun. In this video I let my daughter pull my bag down the jet bridge. She was so excited she giggled and skipped the entire way down.

3️⃣ Plan for play. Waiting is hard even for grown ups. So plan ahead. Pack some new toys or games in their personal bags to give them something fun to do while they wait. Before a long flight, I always hit up the Dollar store for cheap little toys or coloring books to occupy the time.

Kids Free November is HERE!!! In Jacksonville, Flo Kids Free November is HERE!!! In Jacksonville, Florida, kids get in free to participating attractions after the purchase of an adult ticket, for the entire month of November.

We spent three fun-filled days in Jacksonville to check it out and ended up having a blast!!

Here are some of the things we got into:

·      Explore Jax Core Tour. This is a three-hour Black history tour. The company, Yollie is a great source of knowledge. And the kids never got bored. They particularly loved the electric vehicle we rode in and that fact that they could hop on and off at designated stops. We learned so much during this tour. I highly recommend it.

·      Then we headed over to the Museum of Science and History. My son, loved The Animation Academy and my daughter loved the Body Worlds RX exhibit.

·      Next, we headed over to King Pins Bowling Center to bowl. With an adult ticket, kids can bowl two games for free. My mom dusted us, but she totally cheated.

·      The Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Garden was the perfect place to walk off our lunch.
·      Finally, right before hopping on our flight home, we visited the Jacksonville Zoo & Garden. I thought the kids’ favorite would be the lions, but they LOVED the stingray pool, where, after washing their hands, they got to pet stingrays.

Overall, we had a phenomenal time in Jacksonville and can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend this family-friendly city and deal. Grab your tickets now!

I forgot to mention that in addition to all of the fun kids free attractions, we had some amazing food while there, too.  I’ll be sharing some of the best eats in Jacksonville later this week.

I had the immense pleasure of honoring my 90-year- I had the immense pleasure of honoring my 90-year-old grandfather in the article I wrote about my ride aboard the @rockymountaineer train for @essence.

I’ve always wanted to honor my grandfather in some way and write for Essence. This article is proof that dreams still do come true and it’s never too late to check some items off your list. 😊

I shared about this in my stories last week but wanted to give it a place in my feed as well. Check my stories for a link to the full article.
