How to save money during your family vacation (SAV How to save money during your family vacation (SAVE THIS) | Even for the most frugal traveler, travel expenses can add up quickly. Here are a few tips we use to help cut down on some of the cost when we’re on vacation:

1. Stay in a vacation rental or any accommodation with a kitchen. This will help you cut back on the expense of eating out 3 meals a day. After we
check-in, we usually go to a grocery store to pick up enough food for a few meals.

2. Consider not staying close to all the action. If you stay on the outskirts of a destination, it
provides great savings since everything from accommodations, gas, and even groceries are cheaper the further away from tourist centers.

3. Avoid souvenir shops. Instead visit the local Target or Walmart (or an local equivalent) to get more affordable souvenirs for your friends and family.

4. Decide on a budget before your trip and stick to it. I found that it’s easiest to stick to your budget when you use cash. That way, you will know exactly when your well runs dry. 🥴

Looking for flight deals?!? I know I am!! If yo Looking for flight deals?!? I know I am!! If you’re looking for cheap fares to cool destinations (both near and far), here are my favorite websites and apps that will help you find flight deals.

✈️ Google Flights: I start all of my travel searches on this site. I check out the suggested trips from my home airport first, and then I use the search feature to plug in the destinations and possible dates. Once your dates are loaded, you can then scroll to see other cheap fares and dates on the calendar. You can also set up a travel alert for a destination that you’re interested in. Google will then email you an alert every time the price changes.

✈️ Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) : This site provides a daily list of cheap flight deals. However, the best deals are reserved for premium users. I pay the $40 annual fee and receive an email almost every day alerting me of travel deals in and around my home airport.

✈️ @secretflying : This site provides a list of up-to-the-minute updates on mistake fares and travel deals.

✈️ @travelpirates : This site is also free and provides a daily list of vacation packages and flight deals.

✈️ @theflightdeal : This site also provides a daily list of cheap flight deals. You can subscribe to get a free email each day with a list of all the best travel deals. This service is free, and it’s not tailored to your home destination.

This week’s motivational message is as much for This week’s motivational message is as much for me as it is for you. When I’m feeling discouraged or defeated, I look back on my moments of bravery. This video, of my first ski lesson, was taken earlier this year @sundayriver in Maine. It’s not easy learning something new in your 40s. I was so nervous to try skiing for the first time, but I did it anyway and I’m still beaming with pride about this moment!! 😊

Don’t be afraid! And if you can’t shake the fear…Do it scared!!!!

You do NOT have to quit your job and travel full-t You do NOT have to quit your job and travel full-time to be successful in the travel space. I run a travel business and I’m home 85.4% of the time. (I just made that stat up 😜 but you get the gist).

While travel is the meat and potatoes of my business…I do the bulk of my work from home. I’m not saying don’t quit your job, if that’s what you want to do. But I am saying there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

Here are two tips on how to chase your wanderlust dreams while keeping your steady income:

1. Maximize Your Vacation Days: Use your PTO (paid time off) strategically. Plan longer trips during holidays or weekends to make the most of your time off. This way, you can explore new destinations without taking extended leaves from your job.

2. Weekend Getaways and Short Trips: Explore nearby destinations during weekends or opt for short trips that require minimal time away from work. You’d be surprised how many amazing cities are just a few hours’ drive or a short flight away.

By combining these strategies, you can satisfy your wanderlust without compromising your steady income.

On our way to Paris, we missed our connecting flig On our way to Paris, we missed our connecting flight and had to spend the night in Vienna. While we were disappointed to delay our fun in Paris, we were grateful that we had @allianztravelus insurance and our @amexplatinum card.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With both, we were able to use the credit card to book a room at @nhhotels which was across the street from the Vienna airport, and sleep well knowing that we would be reimbursed later.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In addition to missing our connecting flight, a few of our bags never made it to Paris. So, because we had Allianz, we were reimbursed for…
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1.	The hotel room and dinner in Vienna (missed
  connection flight)
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2.	The lost prepaid night at our Airbnb
  accommodations in Paris.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3.	The two excursions we missed due to the extra
time we spent filing lost baggage claims at the
  airport in Paris.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4.	Replacement clothing that we purchased in Paris
to hold us over until our luggage was found.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Aaaaaaaaand I got reimbursed within days of filing the claim. Cha ching!

Wanna travel more even though you have a full-time Wanna travel more even though you have a full-time job?? Here are a few ways to do it. [SAVE & SHARE THIS POST]. If you’re willing to try it, these travel tips will help you to you squeeze in a couple more trips each year without breaking your PTO bank.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are three my tried-and-true travel tips:

1.	Take red-eye flights. You can work a full day and
hop on one of these joints and wake up in your
  destination.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2.	Plan trips around holidays. If you book your
vacation around a holiday, you’ll be able to add a
day or two to a long weekend. Which should give
you a nice 4-or-5- day vacation.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3.	Earn Compensation Time. Talk to your employer to
find out the company’s comp time policy. If you
participate, you will be able to earn the time you
need to vacation like you want.
